Tongole Wilderness Lodge

Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, Malawi

One of Africa's last truly unspoilt areas

Tongole Wilderness Lodge is an exciting new eco-tourism venue deep in the rugged and breathtakingly beautiful woodland of Nkhotakota. It hugs the forested banks of the lovely Bua River. Tongole is the only facility of its kind in the area, attracting those wanting an exceptional wilderness experience in one of Africa’s truly unspoilt wildlife areas.

The Nkhotakota landscapes serve to make this a real, undiscovered gem for a Malawi safari. Nkhotakota supports a very rich diversity of flora and fauna, with guests at Tongole often being treated to sightings of elephant, hippo and other wildlife drawn down to the river. Birdlife International has identified the Reserve as an important bird area with over 280 species recorded.

Tongole Wilderness Lodge is built from the red earth on which it stands, blending in perfectly with its riverside setting.  4 luxurious, thatched riverside suites cater for up to 8 guests, offering a very peaceful and intimate experience with an exceptional level of personal service.

Just 30km from "the Lake of Stars", experience the perfect Malawi safari in an as yet undiscovered area. Trek through the bush, drive through the vast Reserve, canoe down the Bua River, or simply enjoy the local people, hospitality and culture.
