OK, we accept the skiing and snowboarding is quite limited and would probably recommend you choose another destination for this, but you could always try sandboarding, or take to the water and learn to kite-surf. And when your choice of location for watersports is somewhere like the tropical spice island of Zanzibar it’s a done deal! 

The highest bungie jump in the world is in South Africa, but then do you choose to take the leap there, or with the magnificent backdrop of the Victoria Falls?  For the ultimate adrenaline rush, skydiving is certainly well up there and there can be few better settings than Swakopmund, with desert dunes on one side and open ocean on the other.

Exceptional scuba diving and snorkelling sites are too numerous to list and include specials, such as snorkelling with whalesharks, swimming with dolphins and diving with Manta Rays.

If you prefer activity holidays with a slightly more relaxed pace, but no less adventure, try a kayak safari on one of Africa’s great rivers, such as the Zambezi, watching out for game along the way.  Alternatively, island hop and camp out on a traditional dhow sailing boat off the coast of Madagascar.
