Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti National Park needs little introduction! This huge national park with grass plains stretching as far as the eye can see plays host to one of the most famous wildlife spectacles on earth: the great wildebeest migration.
The much filmed and photographed Grumeti River Crossing usually takes place between May and July. However, the huge herds of wildebeest and zebra with their attendant predators can be found in different areas of the park throughout most of the year.
Most organised camping tours take you to the area around Seronera, dotted with rocky outcrops and a couple of small rivers, which support resident predator, elephant, and hippo populations all year round. Alternatively you may choose to stay in one of the selection of lodges on offer.
