Lake Malawi

Lake Malawi, known as ‘The Lake Of Stars’, is more like an inland sea than a lake and offers beaches, snorkelling, diving and inviting waters to rival most coastal destinations.

Lake Malawi’s shores are lined with golden sand beaches on which to laze, gazing out over the sparkling waters, which invite you to cool off in the heat of the day.  The rocky bays and numerous small islands are home to hundreds of species of tropical and colourful fish, offering excellent snorkelling and scuba diving.

A range of other water sports are available, such as sailing and kayaking, taking you past the small fishing villages dotted along the shores and the opportunity to camp out on one of the islands.

The historic Ilala Ferry provides an alternative means of transport and an interesting experience for the adventurous, travelling across to the hideaway islands of Likoma and Chizumulu and even Mozambique.

Lake Malawi makes an ideal combination with South Luangwa National Park in Zambia for those looking for a Beach & Bush safari itinerary.
