Namibia

Namibia is one of the least densely populated countries in the world and one of the most visually spectacular. We recommend driving, either a self drive safari, or guided tour to explore this vast country and gain a real appreciation and sense of the open space.

The immense red dunes of the Namib Desert at Sossusvlei, blown by the wind into razor sharp peaks provide exceptional photographic opportunities and should not be missed.  Etosha National Park offers a fantastic wildlife safari with lines of zebra and antelope winding their way out of the mirages and the backdrop of the sprawling Salt Pan.

Swakopmund is probably Namibia’s capital for adventure activities and also boasts colonial architecture and fine dining.  From here you can follow the road north along the Skeleton Coast with rugged coastline on one side and desert dunes on the other.

The very adventurous may wish to venture into the remote wilderness of Kaokoland in the northwest, in search of desert elephants, where the Himba people still live traditional lifestyles.  Alternatively, and for a dramatic contrast in scenery, you may head for the waterways and lush woodland reserves of the Caprivi Strip.  For culture and discovery stop off en route and spend some time in a traditional San Bushman village, learning crafts and bush survival skills.

Namibia Holiday Destinations

  • Sossusvlei, Namib Desert

Sossusvlei in the Namib-Naukluft National Park is one highlight that you should not miss during a visit to Namibia. Watch the sunrise over the towering red dunes, casting long shadows from their curves and rising to razor-edged ridges shaped by the winds.

  • Etosha National Park

It is Etosha’s scenery that really differentiates it from other parks in southern Africa. Wonder at the vast Etosha saltpan stretching off to the horizon and processions of gemsbok, zebra and wildebeest filing their way out of the distant mirages.

  • Swakopmund

In one of the least densely populated countries in the world Swakopmund is a picturesque coastal town where you can discover a little of Namibia’s colonial history and architecture and well worth a visit. Relax at one of the streetside cafes during the day and dine at excellent seafood restaurants at night.

  • Kaokoland & The Skeleton Coast

One of Africa’s last true wildernesses and home to the Himba people; their skins painted red with ochre butter and still living their traditional nomadic pastoralist lifestyles. If you enjoy getting off the beaten track and exploring vast rugged mountain and desert wildernesses you will love this region and its dramatic scenery.

  • The Caprivi Strip

The scenery and National Parks of the Caprivi are a stark contrast to the rest of Namibia; with thick, green tropical vegetation and a network of rivers, reed lined waterways and marsh areas.
