Namibia Luxury Mobile Tented Safari Itinerary

Day 1
Sesriem

Your guide will collect you from your accommodation at approximately 08h30 and drive south through the oldest, driest desert in the world, stopping at places of interest, such as the huge social weaver’s nest and the Resurrection Bush on the Remshoogte Pass. You will enjoy lunch at Solitaire en route and arrive at the camp in the late afternoon. Climb Elim’s Dune for an unforgettable sunset. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. (B,L,D)

Day 2
Sesriem

Today you will rise early and depart from the camp 1 hour prior to sunrise to drive down an ancient riverbed surrounded by towering sand dunes. Your first stop is Sossusvlei where you will enjoy a spectacular sunrise and witness the changing colours of these famous sand dunes. After a sumptious brunch you will have the opportunity to explore Dead Vlei and Nara Vlei on foot. You will return to camp to relax during the hottest part of the day before exploring Sesriem Canyon in the afternoon. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. Day 3
Swakopmund, Bed & Breakfast

After breakfast you will drive through the heart of the Namib. You will have the chance to stop at the lagoon at Walvis Bay to see the many aquatic birds that make their home here, including flamingos, pelicans, cormorants, avocets and many more. You will also see the salt farms and learn more about this fascinating industry. You arrive in Swakopmund in the middle of the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in twin rooms with en-suite facilities. (B)

Day 4
Swakopmund, Bed & Breakfast

You will have the full day at your leisure to enjoy the historic town and some of the optional activities that are available here. Overnight in twin rooms with en-suite facilities. (B)

Day 5
Damaraland

Today you travel north along the coast and visit the seal colony at Cape Cross. You then continue north along and enter the Skeleton Coast National Park, where you will visit a small shipwreck and see some of the fascinating plant life. You will arrive at camp in the late afternoon and relax as you watch the sun set over an oasis. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. (B,L,D)

Day 6
Damaraland

Today you will join the Save the Rhino team to track the elusive and majestic black rhino. This is a full day trip with a combination of game driving and tracking on foot. You then continue to your rustic bushcamp near the Hoanib River. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. (B,L,D)

Day 7
Kaokoland

Today you cross the Sesfontein Pass and travel through a baobab forest. You will pick up a local guide and visit a nearby Himba village to see how these fascinating and proud people still live today. Opuwo is a collision between the western world and tribal living and you will have the opportunity to walk around this small centre. You will continue to your camp to relax and reflect on the pressures that tribal communities face in the modern world. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. Day 8
Etosha National Park

Today you enter Etosha through the Western Gate, which is reserved for Namibian tour operators only. You will enjoy a game drive through this little travelled area looking for wildlife and stop for lunch en-route to your overnight camp. Spend the evening at the floodlit waterhole by the camp and watch as the animals come to drink. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. (B,L,D)

Day 9
Etosha National Park

You will rise early this morning for a game drive, stopping at nearby waterholes, before returning to camp for a sumptious brunch. You will spend the hottest part of the day relaxing and will have an optional afternoon game drive. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. (B,L,D)

Day 10
Etosha National Park

You will have another early morning drive today and return to camp for a sumptious brunch. After brunch you drive across the park and visit the stark Etosha pan. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. (B,L,D)

Day 11
Omatako Bushman Village

After breakfast you will have a final morning game drive for those last minute sightings. You will visit Lake Otjikoto, which was once an underground lake, before arriving at your camp mid afternoon. In the evening you will join the local community around their fire for singing and dancing. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. (B,L,D)

Day 12
Waterberg Exclusive Camp

This morning you will walk with a San tracker and discover the ancient ways of collecting veldt (bush) food. On return to camp you will have a sumptious brunch and then head to the Waterberg area. Your camp here is for your exclusive use. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. (B,L,D)

Day 13
Okonjima Camp

After a leisurely breakfast you will visit the Waterberg Plateau National Park and climb the plateau for stunning views over the Omaheke Sandveldt and Kalahari Basin. You will have lunch at this scenic spot and may enjoy a swim in the natural mineral pool. After lunch you will travel to Okonjima’s exclusive campsite. In the afternoon you will have close encounters with large predators, such as cheetah and leopard. You will learn about the threats that they face in Namibia and get some excellent photo opportunities. Overnight under canvas with camp beds and linen, shared ablution facilities. (B,L,D)

Day 14

Today you will be transferred to the airport in time for your onward flight. Time permitting you will visit the craft markets at Okahandja for a last chance to bargain for some local crafts, or gifts. (B)
