Tanzania Safari and Indian Ocean Island Itinerary Day 1 On arrival at Dar Es Salaam international airport you will be met and transferred by road to Vuma Hills Camp in the Mikumi National Park. Day 1 to 4 Vuma Hills Camp, Mikumi National Park Mikumi National Park is part of the greater Selous ecosystem and benefits from the highest game density of the entire conservation area. Its wildlife includes lion, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, eland, greater kudu and much more, as well as some 400 species of bird. It is the most accessible park to Dar Es Salaam and is an excellent choice for visitors continuing on to Ruaha National Park. Vuma Hills is a luxurious permanent tented camp. The tents are large and comfortable with en suite facilities and shady verandas. The dining and bar area overlooks the swimming pool, which creates an oasis of tranquillity in the hot climate of the lowlands.
Day 4 Today you will fly from Mikumi to Ruaha National Park. You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to Ruaha River Lodge. Day 4 to 7 Ruaha River Lodge, Ruaha National Park Ruaha National Park at 13,000 square kilometres, which is approximately the size of Belgium, is one of the largest and wildest Game Parks in the world. It has a dramatic topography comprised of mountains, rivers, rocky kopjes and plains with a vast range of habitats that support a great diversity of wildlife species. Ruaha’s mammal species include lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, and hunting dog. Amongst other rare species Ruaha is home to Greater and Lesser Kudu, Sable and Roan antelopes. Over 480 bird species have also been recorded in the area.
Your accommodation at Ruaha River Lodge will be on a full board basis and your game drives with a professional field guide will also be included. Day 7 After your three night stay at Ruaha River Lodge you will be transferred by charter flight back to Dar Es Salaam. You will then continue by road and boat to Lazy Lagoon Island. Day 7 to 13 Lazy Lagoon Island, Indian Ocean Lazy Lagoon is the perfect Indian Ocean island retreat to unwind at the end of your safari. There are just 12 rooms on the private 9 kilometre long white sandy island, which lies in the Zanzibar channel offshore from mainland Bagamoyo. It boasts swimming at all tides in clear azure blue water and excellent snorkelling among the pristine coral gardens that protect the island.
There are a number of activities available at Lazy Lagoon, including kayaking, scuba diving and other water sports, sunset dhow cruises to nearby sand islands and coral reef, and visits to the historical town of Bagamoyo and Kaole Ruins. Day 13 This morning you will be transferred by boat to Dar Es Salaam for your international flight back to London Heathrow. Total Price - £1660 per person (excluding international flights). |
