Self-Catering in the Madikwe Game Reserve

Set in the eastern section of the Madikwe Game Reserve, The Madikwe Farmhouse provides excellent value for the budget conscious visitor to Madikwe. It is one of the self-catering lodges in the reserve and is a cost effective option for families and small groups.

Set on a private farm bordering the Marico River the lodge is situated in a garden with a large expanse of lawn and its own private swimming pool, overlooking the waterhole where game comes down to drink. The camp is fenced, so it is very safe for children.

The Madikwe Farmhouse is a private bush retreat for the exclusive use of families and small groups of up to 8 persons. Sold only as a complete camp, it is ideal for two families and their children to experience the wonderful outdoors of Madikwe. There are four bedrooms (two with double beds and two with twin beds), each with a fan and air conditioning, and two shared bathrooms.

Wake up in the morning to the smell of coffee and wood smoke and the call of francolin. On hand will be your personal ranger, who will accompany you on two game viewing activities a day. You may choose a leisurely game drive in the 75,000 hectare reserve, where you have the chance of seeing a huge variety of wildlife, including lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard, wild dog, cheetah, giraffe, hippo and many other species. Alternatively, you may prefer to take a walk - the majestic trees, river and hills on the farm offer stunning walking areas.

Although it is a self-catering lodge, there is a full compliment of staff to do all housekeeping and to assist you with the preparation of meals for a hassle free stay. All linen, cutlery, soaps, etc are provided, so all you need to bring is your food and drinks.

Facilities

This charming, newly renovated and furnished farmhouse accommodates a maximum of 8 guests and is available for rentals on a self-catering basis. The facilities include:

• An open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge
• Four bedrooms (2 double and 2 twin), two bathrooms
• Large grassed garden ideal for children
• Swimming pool
• Outdoor boma area for evening meals around the campfire
• Daily game drives into the 75 000ha Madikwe Game Reserve with an experienced ranger in an open 4x4 safari vehicle and game walks
• Staff are on hand to do all servicing of the farmhouse and should you need them
• The farmhouse has both air conditioning and fans
