MarcCrouch

Marc spent much of his childhood overseas in Oman, Bahrain and Egypt, which gave him a taste for travel, exploration and adventure from a very young age. He first visited South Africa in 1998 and his introduction to the bush was as a member of a wildlife capture team, which was a rapid learning experience; “Initially even impala running through the bushes sounded like a rhino to me! I very quickly learnt the sounds and behaviour of the animals that we encountered, when to get out of the way and when to stand my ground.” He then worked at a game lodge in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve where he developed his knowledge and love of the wildlife and nature of Africa.

Marc graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Environmental Biology. After graduating he worked as a co-ordinator on a whale and dolphin conservation and research project. When he was no longer able to finance the voluntary work he was doing he turned his hand to the less familiar investment industry. Inevitably, it was not long before his passion for Africa and wildlife drew him back and he exchanged the train journey and a desk for a horse and the wilderness of the Okavango Delta in Botswana.

Marc has studied to become a professional nature field guide and successfully completed a number of theory and practical assessments, which qualify him to guide groups on driving and walking safaris in potentially dangerous game areas. He also has a very keen interest in wildlife photography. Please visit the Picture Africa image gallery section of this website to see some of the wildlife photographs that he has captured during his time in Africa.

Marc’s last position in South Africa before returning to England to set up NaturallyAfrica was in the Madikwe Game Reserve where he opened and managed a luxury safari lodge. This reserve is still one of the best kept secrets in terms of wildlife viewing in Africa. Due to his personal knowledge of the area and the experiences that he had there Marc enthusiastically promotes Madikwe as a preferred destination for visitors to Africa interested in a wildlife safari. He enjoys sharing his passion and knowledge of Africa with other travellers and is committed to ensuring that your trip with NaturallyAfrica suits your personal requirements.
