Tuningi Safari Lodge provides a marvellously private location to be pampered, relax, experience exceptional game drives or walks, swim in the rim flow pool watching game at your own private waterhole, dine and enjoy the best of the great African outdoors.

The 5 star Tuningi Safari Lodge is set in a valley on the western side of the Madikwe Game Reserve.  Understated yet stylish elegance greets visitors to Tuningi, flawlessly complimenting the untamed surroundings.  The main thatched lodge offers beautiful indoor and outdoor lounges, an elegant dining room and a magnificent rim flow pool that overlooks the waterhole.  This is all interlinked by a sweeping wooden deck, leading to a boma under an ancient fig tree.

Tuningi welcomes families and children revealing a world of wonders, nature, wildlife and providing an exciting insight into the delicate eco-system.

The Lodge Tuningi Safari Lodge’s main reception area includes indoor and outdoor lounges, a dining room, bar and wrap around viewing deck with a rim-flow pool.  The lodge has four luxury suites and a further two family cottages, each consisting of two bedrooms with an adjoining lounge, kitchenette and dining room.
Bedroom Tuningi Madikwe

Rooms Relax in your romantic bedroom with en-suite bathroom and panoramic views of the surrounding bush. Each bedroom has its own fireplace that is lit on your return from an evening game drive, or when you retire to bed at night in winter, whilst in summer the rooms are cooled with colonial fans, or air-conditioning.  Each bedroom suite has its own private deck to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush on your own.

Facilities Each room has an indoor bath and an al fresco shower.  There are in-room safes and hair dryers are provided.

Wild Dog Madikwe Safari

Activities Rise early for your early morning drive in an open game viewing vehicle with your own personal guide.  Two game drives a day are included and optional walking safaris are also available on request.
Dining Tuningi Madikwe

Food & dining The boma is the perfect place to enjoy dinner next to a blazing fire, or gaze at the stars above the canopy of trees after your evening game drive.  Choose your own wine to accompany your meal from the extensive wine list.  All meals, slected beverages, tea and coffee are included.

Staff & service Tuningi’s service is personal yet unobtrusive and the staff smiling and welcoming.

Tuningi Madikwe

Little Tuningi is a part of the main lodge and guests have access to all of the facilities, yet is ideally positioned to allow a small group or family to book it exclusively.  It has a double room and a family unit as well as a private pool and boma for outdoor meals around the fire.  When booked exclusively you will also have use of your own private game drive vehicle.

Responsible travel

Madikwe Game Reserve is a three-way partnership between the state, local communities and the private sector.  It was set-up with the primary objective of benefitting the local communities through employment and business opportunities.

Lodge concession fees are used partly to maintain the conservation infrastructure and game stocks in the park and a portion is also paid to local communities to help finance a variety of community-based development projects.

Tuningi Safari Lodge has received Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa accreditation.
