A trip up Table Mountain is a must with spectacular views over the city and nearby bays. You may either walk up one of the choice of trails, which is probably the most rewarding option, or simply ride up in the cable car. Ideally choose a morning when there is no cloud (Tablecloth) covering the top of the mountain.
You are spoilt by the choice of shops, bars and restaurants at the Victoria and Albert Waterfront where you may sit and enjoy some of the street entertainers, or watch seals splashing in the water. The boats over to Robben Island where prisoners, including Nelson Mandela, were incarcerated depart from here. You can also arrange sunset cruises, or visit the Aquariam.
A scenic drive takes you along the coast to Cape Point stopping to visit the penguin colony at Boulder’s Bay on the way.
Camps Bay and Clifton have good sand beaches lined with trendy bars and upmarket restaurants.
Cape Town is also the ideal base from which to tour the Winelands; visit one or more of the vineyards, take a wine tasting tour and then enjoy a picnic lunch with your bottle of choice.
