Using Cape Town as a starting point travel through the winelands and via Hermanus; famous for whale sightings from its cliffs. It is just past here that the Garden Route officially begins. Take a small diversion to Oudtshoorn and ride an ostrich at one of the farms and drive, or cycle down the Swartberg Pass, taking in the Cango Caves en route. Knysna, set on a picturesque lagoon, makes a good stopping point where you can enjoy fresh seafood at one of the waterfront restaurants. Relax, or surf at the stretch of excellent beach at Plettenberg Bay. For more adrenaline, you will pass the highest bungee jump in the world at Bloukrans River Bridge.
If you enjoy hiking visit Tsitsikamma Forest reputed to still hide a small number of forest elephants, or follow the coastline along the popular 42km Otter Trail.
There are many B&Bs to choose between that offer homely, very comfortable and excellent value accommodation, or if you prefer luxury there are some exceptional lodges.
The Garden Route has many activities on offer for all ages and interests. Let us know if there is something specific you would like to include in your itinerary.
Enjoy the unequalled beauty of the magnificent Tsitsikamma Forest while traversing 30 metres above the forest floor.
