Zanzibar

The laid back island of Zanzibar, otherwise known as the ‘Spice Island’, is a beach paradise and makes a fantastic Beach and Bush combination with a wildlife safari on mainland Tanzania.

Most visitors start their trip in Stone Town with its maze of narrow winding alleyways, huge carved wooden doors, bustling craft markets and great street food at the night market. From here it is a short drive to any of the islands best beach areas. The north tends to be a little more lively than the east coast, but both have a good selection of places to stay. The south of the island is known for its dolphin tours, which offer you the opportunity to swim with these amazing animals. All offer gorgeous white coral sand beaches and warm turquoise waters.

For those seeking adventure sports there are excellent scuba diving spots and coral reefs around the island. The shallow, calm seas and good winds is perfect for kite surfing and there are a range of packages available from beginners to instructor courses in both sports.
